Goa girl invents 3D Gesture technology for mobile phones
The Next thing about smartphones is controlling it without touch i.e, future is all about touch free gesture technology.
A Goa girl From MIT made an advancement in this field and invented touch free millimeter accurate 3D gesture technology for mobile devices.
This technology would allow users to interact with their devices through thin air. This is for not only mobiles but also the devices that have touch screen interface.
“The need for power-hungry, specialized hardware has kept such technology from mobile devices — problems that 3dim has now rectified"Andrea Colaco says. She also said her prototype only demands a few mill watts of additional power from the phone-about one-seventh of the amount used by a standard smartphone camera
Andrea Colaco profile:
Andrea is a Goa girl a student of Margao's Fatima Convent High School who had ranked second at the Goa board Class X exams in 2001 and two years later topped the Class XII exams with an impressive 96.17% Her record of cent percent score in physics, chemistry and biology remains unmatched till date.
She pursued her bachelors degree from Bits Pilani (india). She is a Ph.D student in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and also CEO and co-founder of 3Dim club. She won the MIT $100K entrepreneurship competition for her innovation.
"Now with the prize money, 3dim will go full steam. We will develop the technology for customers-smart-device manufacturers-who have already expressed interest in the product," she said.
